Meet Maxine Gordon
I have 30 years’ experience of writing stories for newspapers and magazines, both locally and nationally.
Now I am helping people tell their stories through my PR services.
I set up my What’s the story? PR workshop in 2018 to teach people how to write a press release.
News is a 24/7 business, with editors hungry for new stories all the time. At the same time, the number of journalists is in decline. Increasingly, the media needs stories from businesses and organisations to fill its empty pages and bulletins. In short, it needs your press releases.
But nobody wants a boring press release – no-one wants to read a boring story. I teach you to recognise what makes a good story – both through my What’s the story? PR clinic and workshop (both available online via Zoom).
In my professional career, I have worked on various local newspapers, most recently at The Press, York. I was a senior features writer at That’s Life magazine and have worked shifts on the Daily Mail and the Scotsman (in my home town of Edinburgh).
I have also worked as a freelance magazine journalist for Yorkshire Living and edited Yorkshire Living Brides and the Yorkshire Business Review.
Blogging is a new passion and you can read my most recent posts here.
I am married, live in York, and have one teenage daughter. When I’m not writing, I love to play tennis, watch movies, read fiction and bake. Winning a charity Bake-Off competition with my three-tiered lemon drizzle cake remains one of the proudest moments of my life.
Save money by learning how to do your own PR. This popular workshop teaches you how to write a press release in one day.
